Yes.......Ma5da Racing initially made an application for Championship status in June 2008 to the MSA with Red Dragon Race and Track Club (RDRTC). Unfortunately this was refused as RDRTC needed to have operate as an MSA registered club for a minimum period of 2 years. In consultation of RDRTC and with their full consent, Ma5da Racing re-applied through the British Race and Sports Car Club (BRSCC) in September 2008.
As expected there were objections raised by the MSA Championship Committee. These were promptly addressed and re-submitted to the MSA accordingly in October. This second application was subsequently refused Championship Status. After consultation and legal advice a full appeal was submitted. This was heard at the end of December 2008 and proved successful by announcement through the MSA on 13th January 2009.
What does this mean?
Ma5da Racing operates under full MSA Championship Regulations including a points scoring series of rounds to provide an overall champion. It has been named and will be known as: "Ma5da MX5 Championship"
