18th December 2008 - End of an era for MaX5 Racing...

Breakaway series, Ma5da Racing, has agreed to purchase MaX5 Racing, making one new home for MX5 racing in 2009.

After several discussions and numerous telephone conversations between Jonathan Blake (Ma5da) and Jonathan Halliwell (MaX5) a sale agreement was formed on Monday 17th November 2008. A non disclosed five figure sum was agreed for the purchase of stock and the full intellectual rights to the MaX5 Championship and respective part suppliers.

After seeing grids deplete during 2008 MaX5 was set for an uncertain future in 2009. By the amalgamation of the two separate MX5 race series it has added to the existing strength of Ma5da Racing with an average of 26 cars on the grid in 2008 and projected full grids for 2009. No more confusion.

"The success of Ma5da Racing since it inception in January 2008 as the 'Breakaway Series' has been through the commitment and dedication of the organising committee and more importantly the dedication and support of each and every driver. The concept of MX5 Racing did not need to change but MaX5 had become a victim of its own success and in the latter years constantly failed to deliver the organisation and development of the race series in profile and efficiency. Ma5da Racing have very quickly become established during 2008 and have previously announced, full TV coverage, Driver Hospitality all at no additional cost to the driver.

The 2009 Provisional race calendar is already published and 2009 registrations opened on Friday 5th December. In less than two weeks 28 Drivers have registered for the 2009 Season...

...The 2009 season is shaping up to be the best race season for one of the most developed one make race series in the UK... Ma5da Racing, the ONLY home of MX5 racing in 2009." - Jonathan Blake, Ma5da Racing Coordinator.
