16th January 2009 - Ma5da Racing Series becomes a Championship for 2009.

The MSA has granted Outline Championship Approval for the "2009 Ma5da MX5 Championship"

After 4 months of application and consultation with BRSCC, Ma5da Racing has now been granted outline Championship Status for 2009 by the MSA. The "Ma5da MX5 Championship" is now the only Mazda MX-5, single class Championship in the UK.

After a successful 2008 Challenge Series and with an average of 26 MX-5's on the grid, Ma5da Racing and its Drivers have been rewarded by achieving outline.

The "Ma5da MX5 Championship" already possess in excess of 40 registered cars for the 2009 season, including former MX5 Champions, Jonathan Greensmith, Tom Roche and Paul Sheard. 14 new drivers including the 2008 Renault Clio Cup Scholarship winner, Robert Boston, who finished 8th in the Championship with a 1st and 3rd at Thruxton will also join the wheel to wheel action looking for their inaugural MX5 wins in 2009. A full 20 race calendar over 9 rounds with entry fees from £275.00 per weekend, full MotorsTV and Channel 5 televised coverage of every race, driver Hospitality and all at no extra cost to the Driver.

Named the fastest growing single make Championship of 2009, and currently with more registrations than most club racing Championship's, Drew Furlong the Competitions Director for the BRSCC commented; "the Ma5da MX5 Championship is a welcome addition to the BRSCC race calendar in 2009, and we look forward to their continuing success in British Motorsport."
