...with two wins from the final rounds at Brands Hatch!
With 18 rounds completed of the 2009 Ma5da MX5 Championship and all wins shared between Tom Roach and Jonathan Greensmith, Robert Boston went to Brands Hatch still seeking that all elusive first win in the MX5's.
After qualifying on pole position, the former Clio racer commanded a dominating lead from the first corner and pulled out a 4 second gap in the early laps. Surely a win at last! Hopes were seriously hampered on lap 4 as the safety car came out due to a stranded Scott Fergusson in the gravel at Druids. Roberts’s frustration was clear to see. As the safety car peeled into the pit lane Robert immediately started to widen the gap from the chasing pack, finally taking the chequered flag at last victory!
Finally the top step of the podium. As a rookie to Ma5da MX5 racing in 2009 and consistently finishing in the top three despite a steep learning curve switching from the front wheel Clio to the rear wheel driven MX5, Robert had realised his potential in MX5 racing. The only thing that could top 1 win was 2, and with that in mind Robert again took victory in race two of the day, despite yet another safety car period and a coming together with Jonathan Greensmith on the last corner of the last lap of the race.
**** Having now tasted victory twice in one weekend, Robert will be one to watch in the 2010 Ma5da MX5 Championship ****
