... now confirmed as an annual event.
The Autumn Championship is to become an annual event after the success of its inaugural weekend. The event is a separate registered MSA Championship from the year long main Championship and is now confirmed as a regular feature on the Ma5da Racing Calendar. The unique format on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit is a first in UK motorsport by combining all competitor costs into a single weekend.
Ma5da Racing organisers introduced the concept to provide an opportunity for new drivers to try MX5 racing in advance of the 2010 Championship. With 26 cars on the grid in its first year and with over 40% of those competitors being new to the MX5 it proved to be a completed success. Working closely with the BRSCC, Britcar and Silverstone Circuit the 2010 Ma5da MX5 Autumn Championship dates will be confirmed in early in January.
2009 Ma5da MX5 Champion, Tom Roche became the 2009 double champion by winning the first ever Ma5da MX5 Autumn Championship. A close fought weekend with Robert Boston (2nd), a personal best from Alyn Robson (3rd) and producing the much talked about race of races changing position 4-5 times per lap during the 3rd round. Such a good race that the prompted the comment, does it have to be the last lap, can't we just leave them out there until they run out of petrol, from the Silverstone commentators. Also a noted performance from new comer Chris Dawkins coming 3rd in the same race at his first weekend of MX5 racing, one to watch for 2010!
